David Koslowski
Photographer / Designer

I was born in Baltimore and have spent most of my life playing music with the likes of Liquor Bike, Vivid Low Sky and my current group Gerty!, it was through music that I found my love for the visual arts. It started with designing t-shirts, record covers, posters, flyers and stickers. I received my first 35mm camera on the first Christmas at my new home in Durham, North Carolina. My wife and I relocated there in 1998 to pursue our music and art careers. The camera has changed my life. I had been seeing these images in my head since I was a child but didn't exactly know how to record them. I'm also fascinated with documentation and time and it's relevance to our lives, thus photography was the key to unlock the door to this world.

My work has been exhibited in Pittsburgh, Greensboro, Chapel Hill, Durham, and published in an international Black & White photography magazine called SHOTS.

Currently, I'm finishing up a degree in Digital Media at the School of Communication Arts in Raleigh and work as a web/graphic designer. I'm also finishing up the fourth Gerty! CD and plan on continuing to create by taking and recording from our past and present.
