York Wilson

York Wilson is a freelance photographer and the owner of Monkey Eye Studio in Durham, North Carolina. His love of photography started 20 years ago while he was locked in a reform school in Provo, Utah. He is currently on the staff Durham's award-winning Independent Weekly and shoots stories for such publications as Newsweek and AAA World Magazine. Most of his personal photographic work is documentary in origin. The mural print from this exhibit came from studying a roll of film he shot years ago as part of a project documenting a tight group of friends in Southern California. Two frames seemed to blend together to form a panorama in a booth of a late night diner. This mural print was created using a technique York developed that involves two people standing in a dark room, kicking a giant sewer culvert back and forth to each other.

York currently lives on the Flat River in Timberlake, North Carolina with his wife Elizabeth, two coonhounds and a beagle.
