The Gspot:Audio/Visual Playground presents Baltimore artists Katherine Fahey and April Wood along with Providence, RI artist William Schaff in the
exhibition “Life Near the Bone.” Opening on Friday, October 12th this visceral collection is tied together by the artists’ use of natural imagery, bygone
crafts, and their attention to detail. The reception on October 12th at * 8pm also features live music from sound-scapers Monarch, indie-folksters
Caleb Stine and the Brakemen, and members of The Bolton Hill Shape Note Singers.

William Schaff is widely known for his work with indie rock artists Okkervil River, Songs: Ohia, and God Speed You! Black Emperor. Dark and
personal, his drawings, papercuts, and embroidery all evoke a world on the brink.

Katherine Fahey uses collage, painting, printmaking and sculpture in a distinctly emotional-baroque style. Her work on the CD cover of
Monarch’s “If Children Were Wishes” album and Noble Lake’s self-titled EP are prime examples of the care and subtlety her work embodies.

Sculptor April Wood predominantly works with metals, referencing such things as antique medical instruments, lace, and other hand crafts
and the organic to create work that addresses issues of food consumption in our culture.  Her work has been most recently displayed at the
Ornamental Metal Museum in Memphis, TN.
